Who & why?

We, Ps Matt & Asha Rau, have been the youth pastors at Imagine Nations Church for 2 years and are passionate about supporting young people and YOU, as their parents, through the teenage years.

We are surrounded by a team of youth leaders who are united with our passion and vision to see young people living out their best lives and applying biblical principles into their every day. We are passionate about this generation and believe they can make a difference in the world, we want to show them and support them in the way of Jesus.

What happens?

There are many different parts of what we do at INY, and we believe that each of them play a significant role in contributing to a young persons life.

Friday Nights

Every Friday during the school term, we gather our young people together. We believe gathering in a large group has a huge impact on a young persons life. It helps them see that they are not alone. It gives them a place to belong. It injects some fun and life into the their week, through the different activities we do on a Friday Night such as; games, live music, inspiring messages and building friendships!

Praise & worship - we sing faith-based songs that encourage us and lift up God’s name. The youth are encouraged to press in but never forced.

It also gives them an opportunity to experience God. All our messages are teaching life principles from a Biblical perspective. We believe in the power God to change a life and pull them forward into a better future.

Our Fridays are for all high school students and run from 7pm-9pm each week during the school term.

Connect Groups

Connect Groups are smaller groups that meet together through the week. We believe in the power of a large gathering but we believe it is just as, if not more, important to have a small group of people you are able to do life with. These groups give our young people an opportunity to be mentored, friendships that are real and lasting, something smaller to belong to with people who may be on the same page or stage of life as them.

It also gives them an opportunity to respond to God. They are able to ask questions about what they have heard and receive prayer and support through different situations in their life.

Connect Groups meet in groups based around age and year at school and so your young person will have the decision to join one after they have come to youth and understand what we are about.

Events

Outside of Friday Nights and Connect Groups, we run many events that simply have the goal of young people making new friends, bonding with their leaders and mentors and just having a fun time! Different events that can happen over the course of a year would be:

Holiday events

Every school holidays we want to have something for young people to be apart of, simply to have fun. We might go somewhere, do an activity or just have a movie night.

Summercamp

This is our biggest event of the year and it is so much fun! It’s an experience like no other! A couple days away spending time with God and friends right next to the beach? Yes please!

Our Summercamps usually run in mid-late January before the school year goes back. It’s a paid camp that kids can attend and we have sessions where we hear from our leaders teachings on God and we also have TONS of fun and free time! If your young person is bored during the last days of holidays, Summercamp is a great place to be refreshed in God and make some new friends.

Youth Combined Events

Annually, we meet together with all the youth ministries in our region. These are really powerful nights and it gives a young person a sense of being a part of something bigger than themselves.

Encounter weekends

These weekends are designed for young people to develop their walk with God on a deeper level and get to know others who are on the same journey as them.

SAFETY

Our Youth Ministry consists of a large number of young people and to keep them safe we also have 30 trained young adult leaders, who are passionate about investing their time into young people. All our leaders go through child protection training every three years and, for those over 18, have current Working with Children Checks.

We take safety very seriously, whilst trying to maximise fun - but if you have any further questions regarding this, please do not hesitate to reach out.
